Mo Salah’s Ridiculous Goal Last Night Wasn’t His First From Such A Tight Angle [Videos]

Having missed a number of easy chances in Liverpool's Champions League encounter against Red Bull Salzburg, the Egyptian then produced a piece of magic.

For 57 minutes last night, Mo Salah was a shadow of his former self, missing a number of gilt-edged chances.

Whilst he hasn’t been at his finest this season, he’s still had a few moments of brilliance, but nothing that compares to his most recent goal.

Having just seen his side take a 1-0 lead against Red Bull Salzburg a minute earlier, the Egyptian pounced on a defensive error to slot home from a ridiculously acute angle.

You can see the full match highlights in HD via SuperSport’s YouTube channel here (Salah’s goal is from the 3:30 mark), but we’ll just watch a few clips:

As the commentator points out, to finish with your right (Salah’s ‘weaker’ foot, too) from that angle is extra special.

Once more, with a measure of the acute angle at the time he shoots:

By the time the ball goes in, he’s actually well behind the goal line:

Marvellous.

As the compliments poured in, some were quick to point out that he’s done similar before.

Here’s an effort for AS Roma, who Salah played before his move to Liverpool:

Mo Salah – he scores when he wants.

For the likes of Manchester City and Leicester (as well as the other chasing pack), the last thing they need is for the superstar to really hit his straps.

Let’s get some of the reaction to last night’s goal via BBC Sport:

“The angle is outrageous. I’m thinking ‘it’s on your weaker foot Mo, you can’t do this’ but he does and it’s an outrageous finish from his hardest opportunity of the night,” said former Reds defender Stephen Warnock…

“Mo scored the most difficult situation of the whole night!” an incredulous manager Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport. “I have no idea [how]. With his quality, how he didn’t score one or two of the others I have no clue.”

…”It was probably his toughest chance,” said Reds left-back Andy Robertson. “Mo puts a lot of pressure on himself to score goals. He’s taken a ridiculous goal. I don’t know how it got in, especially on his weaker foot.”

Neither do we, Andy.

Good luck stopping Liverpool en route to the Premier League title this season.
