There’s been another amusement park disaster, this time in Thailand, although thankfully nobody was killed or seriously injured.
Following on from a deadly rollercoaster accident in Mexico in late September, a fairground ride carrying fourteen people suffered a serious safety malfunction in mid-air when the bar that holds people in place came loose.
The incident, which took place at a carnival in Lopburi, central Thailand on Saturday, saw five of those on the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed ride flung from their seats.
Yahoo! News reports:
One lad was hurled over a barrier and landed on the ground – before standing up and dusting himself down. One woman from the faulty carriage remained in the row of seats.
Four others hit the deck and slid along the ground from the force of falling from the moving mechanical arm. They then piled up on top of each other…
Paramedics arrived at the scene and took those who were injured to the nearest hospital.
Two separate cameras managed to capture the moment. Both can be seen below:
It’s reported that police who arrived on the scene ordered the ride to close while they interviewed the owner, and local government officials also preparing to investigate further.
When you see just how far the young boy in the blue flew through the air, it’s incredible that everyone emerged largely unscathed.
