A lot of people have been watching my Instagram story videos and wondering why I’m getting so excited about a new shopping centre.
Well, let me tell you something. Apart from enjoying the silliness of getting excited about a shopping centre, there are a LOT of people are getting excited about the new Checkers in Constantia.
I’m getting calls all day (sound like Trump?) from people living overseas, saying how the videos are making them homesick. Think about that for a second – a shopping centre is making people homesick. Anyone who’s lived in London might understand the reason – they (London dwellers) literally don’t have anything like our shopping centres.
The closest you’ll get to the new Checkers ‘Constantia Emporium’, or our beloved Constantia Village, is Harrods. Otherwise, it’s individual stores on the high street for you.
It wouldn’t be overly outrageous to use Harrods as a comparison for the new Checkers at the ‘Constantia Emporium’, which also happens to have a Woolworths Food and a Wellness Warehouse. Oh, and they also have a Clicks, for those of you that don’t have time on your hands and enjoy moving at the pace of a sloth.
So only the Instagram videos I posted from outside the building, were taken by me. The others were sent to me. Then finally, last night, we needed something from the shops. Pampers Premium care nappies and cotton wool balls were needed urgently, so I headed off to the new Checkers in Constantia.
I had had a few toots beforehand so I took an Uber. It was then that I realised that nobody had taken a nice HD video of the new store. Better yet, I hadn’t seen an HD video taken on the new iPhone 11 Pro from Digicape.
Anyone who read our last piece on the iPhone 11 Pro will know how ridiculously good the new camera is.
So here it is – apologies, I get a bit silly towards the end, but it’s all there.
The iPhone 11 Pro earning its keep in keeping the footage steady while I mission around a few toots in.
Let it be noted that Checkers is the ONLY shop in Constantia stocking the Pampers Premium Care (size six) traditional style nappies. That is an absolute fact.
I didn’t check if they had Lea & Perrins hot sauce. Hopefully, they do as, again, nobody in Constantia stocks it.
Not Pick n Pay, not Woolies, not Spar – NOBODY.
Holding thumbs.
If you’re keen to get yourself a new Apple toy, keep an eye on Digicape’s Black Friday deals, with more deals going live over the next 24 hours.
See you at the Checkers, pal.
