Jose’s back, and it’s so far so good.
Spurs won 3-2 against West Ham this past weekend during Mourinho’s first match in charge of the London-based outfit, having taken over from sacked Mauricio Pochettino, and last night they hosted Greek team Olympiacos in the Champions League.
There were a few groans around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Greeks took a 2-0 lead within 20 minutes, but a late first-half goal and a dominant second half saw them win 4-2 and secure a spot in the Champions League last 16.
Before we get to the ball boy’s moment of glory, here are the match highlights:

You may have noticed, for Spurs’ equaliser, some shrewd thinking from the ball boy on the sideline.
Pay attention to how quickly he throws the ball to Serge Aurier, who then passes to Lucas Moura, who provides the assist for Harry Kane.
As you can see, Mourinho was in a hugging kind of mood:
After the match, Mourinho was still gushing, reports NewsAU:
“I love intelligent ball boys, like I was! I was a brilliant ball boy as a kid. And this kid today was brilliant, because he reads the game, he understands the game and he made an assist,” Mourinho said.
“He made an important assist. So it’s a good moment for him and he’ll never forget it.”
Mourinho revealed he asked a steward to invite the ball boy into the Spurs dressing room after the game — but he could not be found.
Still, a moment to savour for the young lad.
It’s all classic Jose, really. He’s full of smiles and hugs and jokes with journalists, but when results take a turn south (usually his third season in charge), his mood rapidly sours.
For now, though, Spurs fans will hope he can lead them back up the table towards those coveted Champions League spots.
Before we go, a moment of silence for this ball boy during the Barcelona Open back in 2016:
Almost got away with it.
