How about some stunning photos of the natural world to brighten your day?
Don’t mind if I do.
Last month, we showed you the winners of the 2019 Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards, which were pretty darn spectacular.
Added bonus – you can see some extreme close-ups and unique perspectives in the Nikon Small World competition, if that’s your thing.
Right, let’s move on to the matter at hand, which is the 2019 winners of the Nature Photographer Of The Year competition. You’re looking at Hunt in Sun, a finalist in the Other Animals Category, right up top, taken by Wei Fu of Thailand.
The main prize, and overall winner, is this effort below, with more info via Forbes:
A black-and-white photo of two rabbits jumping high into the air taken in Kiskunsag, near the Hungarian village of Bócsa by the Hungarian nature photographer Csaba Daróczi, was chosen as the overall winner of the contest as well as the winner of the Black-and-White category. This photo was chosen, according to the judges, because of the “atmosphere, timing, beautiful light, perfect sharpness and composition.”
Italian Giacomo Redaelli was the winner of the Youth category (11-17 years old) with this snap showing a nest of long-tailed tits getting fed by their mother:
Under the snow: Winner Mammals Category – STEFANO QUIRINI
Climbing to the sweet: Finalist, Mammals Category – JOSÉ JUAN HERNÁNDEZ
The Fallen Idol: Winner of Plants and Fungi Category – DAVID FRUTOS EGEA
A stormy day: Winner, Landscape Category – ALES KRIVEC
Up in the air: Winner, Underwater Category – ALEXEY ZOZULYA
That’s an absolute cracker. I think there’s even some eye contact going on from the whale’s side.
