If the Royals keep this up they’ll officially debunk the decades-old theory that they’re lizard people.
First, Harry and Meghan went for a pub lunch, and now Kate is cancelling events “due to the children”.
It’s almost like they’re real people with real lives.
Kate was scheduled to attend the Tusk Conservation Awards with Prince William yesterday, but cancelled her appearance at the last minute.
Over to the Standard:
…a spokeswoman for Kensington Palace said she was no longer able to attend due to an undisclosed matter relating to her children. She declined to comment further, but said the royal couple had met finalists at a tea at the Palace this afternoon [Wednesday].
And that, my friends, is the whole story.
More from the day before we roll on:
Speaking before the awards, William said: “Over the years, I have been lucky enough to visit a number of Tusk supported projects all across Africa, most recently in Namibia and Tanzania last year.
“I’ve seen first-hand the hugely important work that people like our finalists do, day-in and day-out, to protect Africa’s wildlife.
“Africa is still on the frontline of conservation. And nothing brings that home more starkly than the sobering roll of honour that we have just seen.
He continued: “These brave men and women lost their lives fighting to protect the natural world. Their tragic deaths are a terrible reminder of the human cost of this issue.
“Tonight we remember their courage and selfless commitment.”
“These conservationists and rangers have lost their lives because Africa remains at the forefront in the battle to end the illegal wildlife trade.”
A good cause.
I’m sure that if you’re a royalist, you’re probably finding it hard to care about Kate’s perfectly normal activities as a mother while other royal scandals are playing out.
The family has been embroiled in a week of scandal after Prince Andrew’s car-crash BBC Newsnight interview about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Not his best work.
His family is clearly having a tough time processing things. Thanks to other scandals that have played out over the years between Andrew and ex-wife Fergie, they were already in danger of being excommunicated.
Now that Andrew has ‘stepped aside’ and stripped of his salary by the Queen, things won’t be getting better any time soon.
It looks like the Queen might be facing the second ‘Annus Horribilis’ of her long reign.
