Last night, I watched the Rugby World Cup final in its entirety – again – although this time my mates had set up a projector so that we could watch an almost lifesize Cheslin Kolbe leave Owen Farrell for dead.
Having also watched YouTuber Squidge Rugby’s superb analysis of the final earlier in the week, it was even more obvious how immense a performance many of the Boks put in, with the likes of Big Duane Vermeulen and Pieter-Steph du Toit particularly impressive.
As good as we were in rugby’s showpiece, there’s no denying that we only just pipped Wales in the semi-final, perhaps best remembered for Faf de Klerk’s meme-worthy showdown with lock Jake Ball.
Well, that and the fact that we kicked incessantly, time and time again, which left many Springbok supporters calling for some heads to roll ahead of the final.
My, how times change.
Squidge Rugby is now back with an analysis of how we beat Wales in the semi-final, which you can watch safe in the knowledge that we went all the way.
Also, let it be known that Faf was wearing his iconic South African flag budgie smugglers whilst playing this match, something he says he has done in every match he’s played for the Boks over the past two years.
