The alleged kidnappers of Amy’Leigh de Jager won’t be enjoying Christmas this year, after the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court postponed their case to January next year.
That means three of the accused – Pieter Van Zyl, Tharina Human and Molemohi Bafokeng – will be spending the festive season behind bars.
The fourth, Laetitia Nel, is out on R25 000 bail, as she was the only suspect said to have shown genuine remorse, and she also confessed and led police to the other suspects, according to IOL.
Nel is banned from making contact with the de Jager family whilst out on bail.
You may remember Tharina Human’s name, as she was the teacher that was close friends with Amy’Leigh’s mother, Angeline, that sent around voice notes praying for the child’s safe return in the hours after the kidnapping.
Sadly, it looks like Amy’Leigh also won’t be enjoying Christmas this year, as Angeline says she isn’t coping very well.

When you consider the conditions under which Amy’Leigh was held, the extent of her ordeal becomes clearer.
The trial is set to resume on January 9, with the delay due in part to the fact that some DNA results are still outstanding.
