Have you ever wondered what royalty eats?
We had a glimpse of it when they released the menu for Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
Scottish langoustines wrapped in smoked salmon with citrus crème Fraiche; grilled English asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian ham; garden pea panna cotta with quail eggs – and other foods that require an entire sentence to describe them.
That’s the food they bring out on special occasions. When they’re chilling out, they eat just like us.
The Queen once allegedly tried to have pizza delivered to Buckingham Palace. Unfortunately for Her Majesty, the guards refused to let the pizza delivery guy past the gates.
Meghan once wrote about her love of pizza on her blog, and Prince Charles recently revealed his favourite pizza while visiting Hawick, St Boswells and Melrose in Scotland.
Hello Magazine has the deets:
Prince Charles, 70, laughed as he was presented with the Margherita pizza from a member of the public as he greeted crowds in St Boswells.
Chef Erminio Di Meo, 56, speaking through a translator, told the Press Association: “I wanted to give him the pizza as he is such a big part of this country. He was curious, he smiled and I said it’s a Margherita. I believe the prince said ‘it’s my favourite’.”
There you have it. The preferred pizza of the next King of England is a Margherita.
How awfully mundane. I wonder if he goes thick or thin base?
At least we can all rest easy knowing that he’s not smashing pineapple on pizza.
The really good news here, though, is that eating like royalty no longer has to cost you an arm and a leg, or a foray into the unknown.
Ask anyone and they’ll tell you that Butler’s makes the finest pizza around. They’ve been doing it right for almost 30 years and they’ve never strayed from what Capetonians know and love.
Here’s a reminder of their specials:
To help you live that royal fantasy, a Butler will even deliver your freshly made and piping hot Margherita to your door – or whatever pizza you choose, for that matter.
Your couch is your kingdom, and if you want pineapple on that pizza, nobody has to know.
