We became wise to the benefits of JOMO – the joy of missing out – here at 2OV, a long time ago.
As reasonably social creatures, it’s rare that we find ourselves confronted with a weekend that involves nothing but naps and endless free time.
Let the parties happen, let the world go one without me – I have a date with the couch and it’s serious.
JOMO is, of course, a response to FOMO – the fear of missing out – which followed on from YOLO – you only live once.
The latter two are kind of sad. The BBC will tell you why:
Listening to this guy talk about ‘joy’ in that monotone is probably my favourite part of the video. He sounds like he heard about it, would like to experience it at some point, but doesn’t mind if it never happens.
He’s going to give it a good go, though, with this ‘JOMO’ thing everyone is on about.
Whether you’re ‘YOLOing’, ‘FOMOing’ or ‘JOMOing’ this weekend, stay safe out there.
And make sure you get to wherever you’re watching the rugby early, to secure a good spot.
It looks like South Africa has a real shot against England.
Go Bokke!
