I’ve just checked my schedule for the next year and I will not – repeat, will not – be watching The Grudge.
Showering in Cape Town when you’ve seen the Day Zero mascot is scary enough without adding further terror to the equation.
Technically, this isn’t a remake of the 2004 movie starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, but rather a ‘re-imagining’ of a 2002 Japanese-American horror movie, Ju-On: The Grudge.
Then again, the 2004 movie was loosely based on the 2002 movie, so they’re all interwoven.
I’m still going to give it a miss but for those who enjoy fear, here’s Mashable with more:
The trailer for the new Grudge features John Cho as Peter Spencer, a real estate agent trying to sell a lovely house that should be burned to the ground. He seems like a good guy who’s just trying to do his job, and I sincerely hope he does not die.
Andrea Riseborough also appears as Muldoon, a detective who absolutely did not sign up for this when she joined the force. Upon investigating the house and inadvertently gaining a pale, dark-haired follower, she must keep both herself and her son safe from the eternally angry ghost. Good luck with that.
My gut instinct tells me this will not end well for most of those involved in the trailer below:
Nothing quite like the ol’ hair to hands mid-shower transition, hey?
The Grudge drops on January 3.
