It’s a debate as old as time itself, and by that I mean as long as personal computers have been around.
Windows versus Mac, Apple versus Windows, whatever you want to call it – you know the drill.
Ultimately, it’s a choice you make for yourself, and the same goes for how you run your business.
What platform you run your business on, though, can make all the difference.
Finding the right technology is key to operating a productive business, and the type of machine that your employees use can also affect their experience of the workplace.
We’re a Mac-loving office here at 2OV. I was running a PC when I started and I was miserable. The MacBook Air I use now is a game-changer, and it seems others agree.
In 2018, tech company Jamf surveyed workers from different industries, across the globe, on technology choice and brand preference over a period of three consecutive years.
They found that an overwhelming number of workers indicated that the ability to choose the type of device they use at work matters; and when they have the ability to choose, 72% chose Mac.
Now, they’ve taken it one step further to uncover why Mac is so popular in business. They hypothesised that Mac fosters greater productivity, employee loyalty, and growth across all job functions.
Here’s what they found.
The findings reveal high levels of employee satisfaction, productivity, creativity and collaboration for Mac users.
But it’s not just the marketing department choosing and using Mac. Mac usage has gained major influence on the employee experience among all major lines of business, including Information Technology, Human Resources, Sales and Engineering.
As a result of using Mac, 97% of respondents claim increased productivity, 95% claim increased creativity, 94% claim self-sufficiency with technology and 91% claim increased collaboration.
Organizations that offer Mac enable maximum employee productivity, creativity, self-sufficiency and collaboration – all key ingredients to business success.
In short, Mac is perceived to be more effective in the workplace than any other device brand, and the numbers don’t lie:
I’m not saying this settles the debate (nothing ever will), but those numbers are telling.
