It’s that time of the month, when we all cry a little every time we get a notification from the bank reminding us of our dwindling funds.
If you’re feeling the burn, what you’re about to read isn’t going to make you feel any better.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has zero money problems, apart from how he’s going to spend it all.
He took over as CEO in 2014, and since he’s been at the helm, Microsoft has become a major force in cloud computing, for which he has been richly rewarded.
Now this, from CNN:
Satya Nadella got a 66% raise in the company’s latest fiscal year.
Nadella received $42.9 million in total compensation up from $25.8 million the year prior. With a base salary of more than $2.3 million, most of his pay came from stock awards.
The raise, detailed in Microsoft’s annual proxy statement, was for the 2019 fiscal year, which ended on June 30.
Must be nice.
The raise came after Microsoft’s stock price hit an all-time high in September when the company raised its dividend and authorised a plan to buy back as much as $40 billion of its own stock.
By comparison, Apple (AAPL) CEO Tim Cook received $15.7 million in 2018 with $3 million in salary. Google (GOOG) CEO Sundar Pichai received $1.9 million in overall compensation. Bloomberg previously reported that Pichai turned down a stock award. Amazon (AMZN)CEO Jeff Bezos, the richest person in the world, has received the same $81,840 salary for two decades. He also receives $1.6 million in security-related services and business travel each year.
Cool.
Right, back to work. You’ve got to earn those ‘Randelas’.
Payday is around the corner, so hang in there.
