It’s that time of the year again, when good food and even better wine come together at the annual Anthonij Rupert Protea Party in Franschhoek.
It’s one of the Cape Winelands’ social calendar highlights, and for good reason.
The theme for this year is “Bright and Light”, which takes inspiration from the newest design, ‘Daisy fields’, which you’ll find on the Protea Chenin Blanc bottle.
The Protea range of (excellent, crowd-pleasing) wines consists of eight single varietal wines and is named after the flower species unique to the Cape Floral Kingdom. Each wine bottle features a unique pattern, inspired by floral elements.
Here’s DrinksFeed with what you can expect from this year’s gathering.
Anthonij Rupert Wyne’s annual winelands harvest-style feast promises a night to remember as it continues to celebrate the estate’s beloved Protea wine range. With the spotlight shone on the latest releases in this range, this one-night-only annual affair offers deliciously inspired seasonal cuisine, superb wines and generous hospitality.
The theme is also fitting of the end of a lengthy drought, whilst welcoming a glorious spring season after an abundance of rain. All elements of the evening will celebrate this theme, from twinkling fairylight displays on the tables and a fresh, vibrant menu to the ceiling of stars overhead. Guests are invited to incorporate this into their own outfits, should they wish to do so.
On arrival, guests will be greeted with specially-crafted Protea cocktails to savour as the sun sets on the estate. Dinner – a generous three-course, harvest style feast of seasonal winelands produce – will be served at long tables beneath an expansive marquee. The full range of Protea wines will be available for enjoyment throughout the evening. Entertainment will be provided by a live band and the famous dance-floor is a must for working off all those calories under the stars after dinner!
Sounds like a vibe.
