Every year, more than 30 000 visitors descend on Port Hercules for the Monaco Yacht Show to see the most exciting new yachts, as well as more than 580 exhibitors.
Last year it became apparent to the designers of luxury vessels, and accessories for luxury vessels, that the market was becoming younger and younger.
Younger clients are sometimes more interested in the toys available on board than in the indoor decor and trimmings that make luxury yachts, well…luxurious.
That’s why the Monaco Yacht Show is where you’ll find some of the most technologically advanced toys on the market, according to Forbes.
Because nothing says “money to burn” like a flying car.
I’m not even kidding. First on our list of crazy yacht toys is exactly that.
The PAL-V Liberty Pioneer Edition Flying Car
This will set you back $599 000.
The PAL-V Liberty Pioneer Edition Flying Car is limited to only 90 vehicles for delivery in Europe, and North America.
Nothing could be better than having a flying car you can park like any regular car. There are no limits to where you want to go and the PAL-V is 80% less affected by turbulence and self-stabilizing in gusts. Designed to free you from the ties of traffic, you are in control of your individual travel schedule. No more airport parking hassles and no taxi, train, bus or rental car required after landing. A traffic jam? Just fly over it.
Yachts go in the water, right? I don’t know much about boating, but I’m pretty sure you aren’t going to run into any roads or traffic jams in the ocean.
Lift eFoil
If you have $12 000 to spare, you can invest in yet another toy that will free you from the inconvenience of touching the water.
Revolutionary innovations in tech have created electric foiling, in which riders of all capabilities can lift above the water on a board attached to a mast with a motorized propeller system (otherwise known as the eFoil, which was pioneered by Puerto Rico-based company called Lift).
The eFoil uses an advanced lithium-ion battery to power a silent electric motor that’s mounted on an all-carbon fiber hydrofoil, all controlled with a wireless Bluetooth hand controller. Riders can fly for over an hour at speeds of up to 25 mph.
Rad.
Red Shark Bike Board
For a more ‘budget’ way to avoid touching the water, this floating exercise bike lets you cycle on the sea for only $3 000.
Red Shark trimaran bike is designed to give cyclists a pedal-powered workout. The Sport model is billed as the fastest and for the most serious athletes. Red Shark Sport is built to train fitness, and gets a time trial or triathlon inspired cockpit, with a healthy dose of carbon components and clipless pedals.
Forward propulsion is provided by an impeller directly under the mast continuing down from the bottom bracket with a direct drive gear shaft. Directional control is handled by a pair of rudders directly under the front mast, turned by the standard bike handlebars that are offered on various models.
It’s a spin class, but outside.
Seamagine Aurora 3C Submarine
If you want to go in the water without touching it, then you’ll need to invest between $1 million and $3 million on a small submarine.
The AURORA-3C personal submarine is a compact private submersible in size and light in weight, that holds 1 pilot and 2 passengers, and is a 1 Atmosphere, ABS or DNV-GL Classed, vessel with a depth rating of up to 1500 ft.
The configuration of this private submersible provides the occupants an exceptional view, unobstructed by top hatches and side pontoons and offers the largest spacious cabin space compared to any other private submarine in its low weight category.
It also has a walking deck so that you can board the submersible without going near the sea.
Tandem Jetovator
This toy with its ridiculous name will set you back $9 475.
The new Tandem Jetovator makes flying easier than ever and offers new flyers the option of training with a certified flight instructor. This is the perfect addition to any Hydro-flight Rental Operation who are looking to maximize revenue and operator safety. The Tandem Jetovator has twin controls, allowing it to be controlled from the front or rear seat. New riders can fly in comfort knowing they have an instructor in the back that can take over the controls at any time.
How nice. Now you can avoid touching the water with the help of a certified instructor.
Seriously, how expensive are the haircuts on the people buying these toys that the market is so saturated with ways to avoid getting wet?
