The Ndlovu Youth Choir might have missed out on the top prize on America’s Got Talent, but that’s not going to stop them from doing big things.
The youth choir that impressed the judges with their incredible performances on the reality TV show have returned to South Africa, where they received a hero’s welcome.
That’s not all they received, either.
SowetanLIVE, reports that the choir was welcomed by members of their community and government officials when they landed at OR Tambo last Friday:
This was the best surprise ever! Seeing our families and friends come all the way from Limpopo made us feel so special. It’s good to be home! ❤️ https://t.co/4KPHrqIHjG

Choirmaster Ralf Schmitt said that he “felt amazing”.
“I can’t breathe,” he said. “I envisage a beautiful and exciting future for them. But there’s also a leadership responsibility. It must be sustainable and result in employment. They have so much potential. They have an exciting future.”
The choir was returning from their six-week trip to Atlanta, USA, where they made it to the final of AGT. During the final results show they performed Higher Love and Can’t Hold Us! with fellow finalists the Detroit Youth Choir, DJ Kygo and Macklemore.
Then, to top it all off, on Monday Thandi Moraka, Limpopo’s sport, arts and culture MEC, awarded the choir R1 million to celebrate their achievement of making the finals of what is arguably the world’s biggest talent competition.
The choir also wasted no time getting back on the stage for a performance in their hometown:
Our community packed our theatre this afternoon to welcome us back. No place like home. ❤️ #Africa #Home #agt pic.twitter.com/VGBjIrOEEg

They’ve also released a new performance that puts an African spin on ‘The Greatest Showman’:
Now that they’re back home, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of them in the months to come.
