I wasn’t aware that there was an actual Batman DAY, but I’m pleased there is.
I like it when make-pretend becomes real. Like when I try and arrest people the morning after cops and robbers role play.
Imagine you’re walking down a city street at night and you look up and there’s an actual ‘Bat Signal’ shining onto a building, just as you’ve seen in Batman films.
With the right amount of weed, you’ll stop and realise that Batman is real and he’s probably fighting crime right now.
Such was the case on Saturday (21 September), which happened to be the official Batman day. I found an article about it, with images of the Bat Signal shining in cities across the world, and lo and behold, there was Johannesburg. I was not aware that we were that bat crazy in South Africa!
Mind you…
CNN reckons:
Cities across the world on Saturday marked Batman Day by flashing the Bat Signal across buildings and into the night sky, a nod to the Caped Crusader on his 80th birthday.
Fans of the DC Comics superhero spotted his famous distress call at 8 p.m. local time in Melbourne, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Berlin, Rome and London, among other major cities.
I like how they all synchronised their clocks. Nice touch.
Here’s the Bat Signal shining on the Leonardo building in Jozi, the tallest building in Africa (I was not aware).
Stunning.
