It’s been 25 years since Friends first aired.
I’ll give you a moment to let that sink in. Do you feel your age yet?
In honour of Friends‘ 25th anniversary (the official air date was September 22, 1994), Google has created seven Easter eggs inspired by the popular TV show.
Here are some tips, courtesy of Mashable, for how to find these treasures currently hidden on Google.
Top tip – sound on!
7. The One With the Chick and the Duck
Search “Chandler Bing.” Then, look to the info panel (right side of the screen) and click on Chandler’s beloved recliner to get a visit from Yasmine and Dick. Be sure to click on the recliner a second time to send them back to bed.
6. The Smelly Cat Song
Search “Phoebe Buffay” (or just “Phoebe”) and click on the guitar icon in the info panel for a rendition of the “Smelly Cat” song — now with visuals!
5. The Rachel
Search “Rachel Green.” Click on the info panel icon of Jennifer Anniston’s world-shaking ’90s cut. Soon, you’ll be redirected to an image search result page for [insert fanfare] “The Rachel.”
4. “PIVOT!”
Search “Ross Geller.” Click on the couch icon in the info panel once and you’ll hear Ross shout, “Pivot!” as the entire screen rotates.
Do it again: “PIVOT!” and another rotation. Once more: “PIVOT!!” and another rotation. One last time, aaand… there will be no more pivoting. Refresh the page to get a new couch.
3. Not just clean. Monica clean.
Search “Monica Geller” (aka The Queen of Cleaning) and click on the soap bucket in her info panel. Watch as her search result gets a luxurious, refreshing, sparkling scrub down.
2. “Joey doesn’t share food!
Search “Joey Tribbiani.”
Try to click on that pizza in the info panel and soon you’ll hear “Joey doesn’t share food!” (the catchphrase repeated by Joey and your older brother for as long as you can remember.) As even more food pops up across the search results, a pair of hands will quickly snatch everything off screen. Because, y’know: Joey. Doesn’t. Share. Food.
1. Friends glossary
Search “Friends glossary.” Google’s glossary tool will pop up with a rolodex of vocabulary from the show, including phrases like “phalange,” “Fancy Guest,” meat sweats,” “hand twin,” and — wait for it — “on a break.”
And there you have it. Is it just me or are you also feeling a sudden itch for a Friends binge?
