You know, we give South African law enforcement a pretty tough time of it.
The latest crime stats might explain why, but then we also have to give credit where credit is due.
Take for example this video, which blew up on social media yesterday. The driver of this vehicle, a 27-year-old woman, has since been arrested, but it’s the female traffic officer from the Gauteng Traffic Police who is the real star of the show.
IOL reports that the incident happened last Friday in Krugersdorp. Check left, check right, observe:

That ‘Oh my God’ from the person filming is also a hoot.
Here’s more background on what went down:
The Gauteng Traffic Police officer was in the process of issuing the driver with a traffic fine for using a cellphone while driving, when the driver drove off as the officer who was hanging from the bonnet was trying to stop her.
The driver was arrested afterwards for charges including failing to comply with an instruction of a traffic officer, reckless driving and resisting arrest. A fine was also issued for driving while using a cellphone.
We assume that fine for driving while using a cellphone was for the 27-year-old woman with the traffic officer on her bonnet, not the person filming.
Be good on the road today, friends.
