Meghan And Harry’s Itinerary For Their Trip To South Africa

Meghan and Harry are planning a jam-packed 10-day trip, and baby Archie is coming along for the ride. Here's where you can catch them (or avoid them) along the way.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are making their way to South Africa soon, and they’re bringing baby Archie along for the ride.

If you’re the type of royalist who wants to strategically place yourself in areas that they’ll be visiting, we’ve got you covered.

If, like me, you want to avoid the inevitable traffic and crowd congestion that will take place in the areas and places that they’re visiting, the following detailed itinerary of their activities while in the country is equally useful.

Here’s what Meghan and Harry will be getting up to, according to the Express:

The family will be touching down in Cape Town on Monday, September 23.

They’ll have no time to get over any tiredness because their first day is already packed.

  • They’ll be attending a workshop that teaches children about their rights and provides self-defence classes.
  • Tour of the District Six Museum complete with a lesson on the efforts being made to reunite families that were separated during apartheid.

Day Two: Tuesday, September 24

  • Trip to Monwabisi Beach, near Khayelitsha to spend time with the Waves for Change programme, an award-winning surf therapy NGO working with young and vulnerable people.
  • Visit to the Lunchbox Fund, an organisation that provides meals for kids at underprivileged schools.
  • Harry to head off to Seal Island to learn about the efforts to stop the poaching of abalone.
  • Meghan and Harry will then visit the Bo-Kaap before attending a reception at the British High Commissioner’s residence.

Day Three: Wednesday, September 25

  • Meghan and Harry are set to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his wife, Leah, at the headquarters for their Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.
  • Following this, the couple will part ways. Meghan is staying in South Africa with baby Archie while Harry heads north.
  • Meghan will begin her focus on women’s empowerment with a visit to the Woodstock Exchange.

Day Four: Thursday, September 26

  • Meghan will take part in a Women in Public Service Breakfast.
  • Following this, the Duchess will take a break.
  • Meanwhile, Harry will be fulfilling a full set of duties in Malawi, Botswana, and Angola, which you can read about here.

According to Town and Country, and as you might have noticed, a majority of Meghan’s activities in South Africa will be focused on women’s empowerment, gender equality, and women’s rights.

“Through her Patronages, the Duchess will be working with organisations to promote women’s education, health, entrepreneurship and leadership,” the Sussexes’ private secretary Samantha Cohen said as she announced details of the 10-day visit. She continued, sharing that the duchess is “particularly looking forward” to learning from “inspirational women in the region.”

Gender-based violence is a national crisis in South Africa, so it makes sense that she would focus her attention on women’s rights during her visit.

After some time off for Meghan and Archie, we check in again with…

Day Nine, Tuesday, October 1

  • Harry will visit Mauwa Health Centre in Malawi, before heading back to South Africa to meet his wife and son in Johannesburg.
  • Meghan will be attending a roundtable discussion with the Association of Commonwealth Universities in Johannesburg where she will discuss the challenges faced by young women in accessing higher education.
  • Meghan will also visit a local school and meet with a charity that deals with sexual violence in schools.

Day 10, Wednesday, October 2

  • Harry and Meghan will be meeting with inspirational young South Africans in Johannesburg communities.
  • They will then meet with Graça Machel
  • To wrap up the tour they’ll be meeting with President Ramaphosa and his wife, Dr Tshepo Motsepe.
  • That evening, Harry, Meghan and Archie fly back to the UK.

Look out for the royals around town. They’ll be arriving soon.
