If you’re not familiar with the story of Jenna Lowe, the young woman who captured South Africa’s hearts before her passing in June 2015, here’s a brief recap.
In 2013, Jenna was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, and what followed was a fearless fight against the odds.
Along that emotional journey, she was supported by friends and family, and the country rallied behind Jenna. Now her mother, Gabi, is sharing her story with the world in her brilliant memoir, Get Me To 21, revealing the incredible, untold true story of a mother’s courageous battle to get her daughter to 21.
In Get Me to 21, the reader discovers that vulnerability is not a weakness, it is the quickest path to courage. This is a book written by an ordinary mother – her challenges, her traumas, her times of weakness and her moments of despair and pain.
You can find out further details about the book, including how to order a copy, here.
For those who want an inspirational night out, HQ Restaurant is hosting a fantastic event on Wednesday, September 18.
You can join Gabi, her daughter Kristi, and 2oceansvibe Radio’s Susana Kennedy for the sharing of some inspirational and moving moments from the journey that this book was written about, while sipping on bubbles and enjoying delicious canapés.
Tickets for the event can be booked online, and there is also a fantastic giveaway happening.
Here’s what is up for grabs…
The lucky winner of the giveaway will win two tickets to join Gabi and Susana at HQ (valued at R195 each), and will also receive two signed copies of Get Me To 21, valued at R270 each.
For details on how to enter that competition, check out Susana’s Instagram post and follow the simple instructions.
Good luck, and thanks to everyone who has supported the telling of this touching story thus far.
