Cristiano Ronaldo made a lot of money over the past year ($109 million, to be precise), so you’d think he might refrain from appearing in adverts like this.
Nay, because here we are looking at the advert for the launch of his ‘CR7 Play It Cool’ fragrance.
The 34-year-old went with a leopard print dressing gown outfit (he has company, but more on that later), and I guess Ronaldo fans will say it shows his ability to laugh at himself.
Yeah, I think it shows his ability to flog every last potential revenue outlet, but he’s making silly money so he gets the last laugh.
Right, here we go:
Just going out on a limb here – what a kak ad.
More from CR7 via the Daily Mail:
Speaking about the new campaign, Cristiano said: ‘I really feel that fragrance can transform you. A great fragrance gives you the confidence to be the best version of yourself and I wanted to bottle that feeling with CR7 Play It Cool.
‘It makes me feel like I can achieve anything, and I hope my fans experience that when they wear it too.
‘There are lots of times in my life when the pressure’s on and I need to “play it cool”, whether it’s before a big game or stepping up to a penalty kick, but I wanted the campaign to be something that everyone can relate to.’
He continue: ‘We all have “those” mornings! I wanted people to see me in a way they’ve never seen me before. Shooting the video was so much fun – and I did all my own stunts!’
Given how much time he spends writhing around on the floor looking for cheap free-kicks and penalties, he’s certainly got the necessary stunt experience.
Do you want to know the really frightening thing? That ad above isn’t even the worst he’s appeared in during the past month.
How about this, for south-east Asian shopping website Shopee, which went live on August 16:
That is a real advert. Amazing.
While we’re here, we should mention that Ronaldo is nowhere near the biggest doos who appeared in a video wearing leopard print this week.
That ‘honour’ belongs to the guy who runs Ivandrei Photography. In the midst of a week that has shaken South Africa to its core, with gender-based violence leading to nationwide marches, we see this:

The mind boggles.
Who’s up for a quick look at the ‘Worst apology of 2019’ award-winning video? Strap in:
Hey, fella, let me say on behalf of decent South Africans everywhere that you are a complete and utter imbecile.
Anyway, silly Ronaldo advert and all that.
