UPDATE: Whilst all early reports had ‘Amy-Lee’ as the spelling, the family has now confirmed that it is Amy-Leigh…
Six-year-old Amy-Leigh de Jager was snatched from outside Laerskool Kollegepark in Vanderbijlpark at around 7:40AM today, and now her family has confirmed that they have received a ransom demand from those responsible.
Four men were seen loading de Jager into a white Toyota Fortuner, before driving off.
Footage of the car parked outside the school was shared on social media, with police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele confirming to News24 that a manhunt has now been launched.

There was some misinformation being circulated on social media, including a picture of a Fortuner with a GP licence plate.
The car used in the hijacking does not have licence plates, and was last seen on the R82 close to Meyerton.
The school’s headmaster believes that it was a carefully planned abduction, rather than an attempted hijacking gone wrong, and the ransom demand would seem to confirm that.
More from EWN:
Amy-Lee de Jager’s grandfather Martin Brouwer has told Eyewitness News that the little girl’s mother is helping police to go through this morning’s sequence of events.
Brouwer has confirmed that the kidnappers have made contact with the family demanding ransom but could not disclose the exact details.
But it’s understood that a demand of R2 million has been made.
Brouwer said that the men waited for De Jager outside the school premises and believed the attack was specifically aimed at her.
