While I figure that one out, I’ll use the other nine houses of ambition to guide you to The Guardian, for some insight into why astrology is on the rise at the moment – or is it on ‘the cusp’? I can never remember.

Astrology is without doubt having a cultural moment. As well as the rapid proliferation of apps such as Co-Star, which has been downloaded more than 3m times since 2017, astrology memes are a staple on Instagram and Twitter, and have sparked a huge boost in traffic to women’s news sites; a typical horoscope post on the Cut got 150% more hits in 2017 than in 2016, while gal-dem, which introduced a horoscope column in March, said posts performed consistently well.

Marissa Malik, an astrologist and horoscope writer, reckons the increased interest in astrology is a result of worldwide anger and frustration with the economy, job insecurity, and global warming.

“People feel there’s so little we can do in terms of changing politics in a way that benefits marginalised people,” she said. “Astrology reminds us that there’s something bigger than humans on Earth influencing us. Thinking of the world as just being governed by the criminals it is now is pretty grim.”

I find the idea that the world is being governed by celestial bodies moving in an elliptical orbit around a star even more unsettling, but that’s just me.

It’s clearly what the people want, though, so we hopped on over to Mashable, who looked into some of the best astrology apps out there right now.

This is less of an astrology app and more of an ode to determinism. You record things that you do in daily life and use the app to identify patterns that can help you navigate the world in a more productive way.

Sanctuary

This astrology app was downloaded 46 000 times in July. You can use the app to engage in live chats with astrologers or just access your daily horoscope.

The Daily Horoscope

This app is really easy to use and allows you to access your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly horoscope.

Time Nomad

This app functions as a virtual astrology teacher. You can use Time Nomad to track the placement of planets, minor bodies, and asteroids in real-time, and to analyse birth charts for you or your friends.

You can thank us later – or send some good vibes out into the universe.

Just make sure that Mercury isn’t in retrograde when you do it.
