There’s nothing I love more than beautifully crafted food, washed down with a delicious glass of wine.
It’s one of life’s small pleasures.
South Africa has some very talented chefs and incredible wines, so that pleasure isn’t hard to find.
What we don’t get to do very often is sample a range of offerings from our talented chefs alongside a range of our incredible wines.
This is why I’m counting the days to Noble Vice – the ultimate, all-inclusive and unrivalled tasting experience coming to the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock on September 15.
Described as “a gathering of the curious and enlightened”, the annual event brings together six iconic chefs and 30 hand-picked wines.
Each winemaker offers tastings of their essential selection, while each chef creates a single menu course that showcases their signature style.
The 2019 wine producer’s list is once again an unrivalled experience in minimal intervention, small-batch wines. Along with the return of many of the original Noble Vice wine producers, you can expect a few exciting new additions.
This is the only gathering of its kind in the country – 30 winemakers will offer tastings that represent a renegade approach to wine-making, true reflections of terroir, and its translation into wine.
As for the food – this year sees the Noble Vice debut of Salsify’s Ryan Cole and the return of Wesley Randles of Shortmarket Club, whilst proper-meat pioneer Andy Fenner is cooking up an exciting collaboration with each chef creating a single dish in their signature style.
You can look forward to a six-course experience like no other.
It’s a day spent on a taste adventure in sunny Cape Town (we hope), and there’s not much better.
Here’s what you need to know to get a piece of the action:
That was enough to get me hooked, but if you need more, take a look at some of the pictures from last year’s event:
Tickets are limited – only 500 are made available for the event – so you’ll want to book as soon as possible.
