Television is the place to be according to Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actresses in 2019.
Of the actresses to crack the top 10, six of them have recurring roles in a TV series.
The highest-paid actress at the moment saw a massive increase in her earnings thanks to a popular movie franchise, and the list also welcomes some new names like Elisabeth Moss from The Handmaid’s Tale.
There’s also a spot for Charlize Theron, for some South African flavour.
The estimates are based on data from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo and IMDb, as well as interviews with industry insiders.
All figures are pretax; fees for agents, managers and lawyers (generally 10%, 15% and 5%, respectively) are not deducted.
…Together, the world’s ten highest-paid actresses tallied a combined $314.6 million between June 1, 2018, and June 1, 2019, before fees and taxes. That’s 69% more than last year’s cumulative total, but still far less than the top ten actors’ $588.3 million.
You can see the full list below, starting with Ellen Pompeo at number 10.
10. Ellen Pompeo: $22 million USD in earnings
9. Charlize Theron: $23 million USD in earnings
Charlize is currently the executive producer on a new show called Hyperdrive.
According to Good Things Guy, as part of the show, Charlize visited South Africa recently to meet Stacey Lee May.
Stacey is a spinner, meaning she uses her car to perform spins and tricks. She is often seen hanging out of her car while it spins and smokes up the arena.
Stacey started spinning when she was seventeen and said the hobby took over and she became obsessed. She is studying to be a lawyer but enjoys blowing off steam through driving her car.
You can watch Charlize and Stacey in action here:
$23 million is a pretty solid year. Not as solid as Trevor Noah, but nobody is going hungry.
