On Monday of this week, Reeva Steenkamp would have turned 34.
Her parents aren’t about to let her memory die, and Barry and June Steenkamp have been heavily involved with My Name Is Reeva, which will tell her story “through the eyes of her loved ones”.
All4Women reports that a teaser trailer for the documentary was uploaded to Uprise.Africa, a crowdfunding site, which seeks to raise R40 million for 50% ownership of the project.
Before we get into those details, here’s the teaser trailer:
As things stand, the documentary would be directed and co-produced by Warren Batchelor (the brother of Marc), and Tony Miguel.
Here’s more from the crowdfunding platform:
We have secured the exclusive Lifestory Rights, in respect of June and Barry Steenkamp, Reeva’s parents, for inclusion in a documentary series, as well as scripted feature film or series we intend producing. The documentary series will also include exclusive participation of forensic experts, Thomas and Kalvin Mollett, who carried out an extensive scientific and forensic investigation of facts and evidence relating to the murder and of evidence led at the trial, including eye witness testimony and forensic evidence.
This was included in their best selling book, Oscar VS The Truth, of which we have exclusive rights. Our documentary will focus on Reeva as the victim and the impact her murder, as well as the trial had on her parents, family and close friends.
It certainly could be one worth watching out for.
The last time we heard from Oscar Pistorius, he was growing veggies and running a Bible studies group inside Atteridgeville Correctional Centre, where he is serving his sentence for murdering Reeva.
