I think there’s a direct correlation between getting older and moaning about lack of sleep.
Then again, the older you get, the more you tend to moan about everything.
Those who have children – yes, you win, because nobody has ever had less sleep than you, but even those sans children are struggling to get a proper night’s kip.
Carte Blanche calls us the “sleepless generation”, and they’ve decided to do some digging:
You’ve tried everything – medicine, herbal teas and the family favourite, counting sheep before bedtime – but nothing is working. Research shows that sleep is a non-negotiable, biological necessity and vital for a happy, healthy life – but you knew that already.
The bad news is that scientists still don’t have the answer to end chronic sleeplessness and insomnia that appear to be more pronounced in a digitally-connected world. Carte Blanche explores the experiences of a sleepless generation.
More ammo for those who decry how much time many of us spend staring at a screen every day.
Here’s the segment from Sunday’s show:
The struggle is real, but remember that there is professional help at hand for those who want to take that step.
