As things stand, everyone who has ever had any sort of dealings with Jeffrey Epstein is trying their utmost to distance themselves from him.
Bill Clinton sure as hell would have been mortified to find out that Epstein prominently displayed a painting of the former president in a blue dress and heels in his Manhattan, New York, townhouse.
Also caught up in the scandal is Prince Andrew (pictured above with Virginia Roberts – more on that later), and he will have quite a job explaining the latest photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
At this point, the Queen must be absolutely fuming:
…these exclusive pictures come from a never-before-seen video of the Duke of York staying at the New York home of convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. And some of the other images caught on camera make for disturbing viewing.
The footage of the Duke of York – then the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade – was taken less than an hour after Epstein, who had been convicted of sex with a child in 2008, left the house in the company of a young, shivering blonde woman.
The video was shot on December 6, 2010, during a visit by the Prince to Epstein’s nine-storey 21,000 square foot mansion dubbed the ‘House of Horrors’ by many of his young victims.
By then Epstein – who took his own life last weekend – was on a child sex offender register, yet one observer told The Mail on Sunday that several of the women leaving and entering the home while Andrew was apparently inside ‘looked very young indeed’.
You will have to head to the Daily Mail to see the images, as they are exclusives, but it’s every bit as bad as it sounds.
We can embed the video that was shot, where you see one of the young girls exiting with Epstein. Towards the end of the video (around 1:20), you can see Prince Andrew standing at the door, sheepishly looking around before shutting it:
That’s the look of a man who knows he’s somewhere he shouldn’t be.
We mentioned Virginia Roberts earlier, so let’s cover that via the BBC:
According to court filings, another of Epstein’s accusers, Virginia Roberts, claimed she was forced to have sex with the prince on three occasions – in London, New York and on a private Caribbean island owned by Epstein – between 1999 and 2002, when she was under-age according to US law.
Roberts made the claims in a court filing in 2015, although they were thrown out by a judge, who ordered them to be struck from the record.
The same court filing also contains allegations by a woman called Johanna Sjoberg, who claims that Prince Andrew touched her breast when the two were sat on a couch in the Epstein Manhattan apartment back in 2001.
Naturally, Buckingham Palace is issuing some strongly-worded denials:
A Buckingham Palace statement said: “The Duke of York has been appalled by the recent reports of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged crimes.
“His Royal Highness deplores the exploitation of any human being and the suggestion he would condone, participate in or encourage any such behaviour is abhorrent”…
“Any suggestion of impropriety with under-age minors” by the duke was “categorically untrue”.
A reminder that the video above was taken in 2010, and Epstein was convicted of sex with a child in 2008.
Again, that explains the really sheepish glance through the door.
