Influencers divide the world into two kinds of people: those who follow them, and those who would rather throw themselves into shark-infested waters than participate in the culture.
I fall into the latter group, and so does this ice cream truck owner.
As an aside, and while we’re on the topic of shark-infested waters, I encourage you to check out this very cool drone footage of a shark nailing a seal.
Back to influencers. More specifically, let’s look at what happened to one influencer when her own sister had enough of the lengths that she’d go to in order to accumulate followers.
Over to NewsAU:
A wannabe Instagram star has been exposed for posting a “fake” photo of herself on a hike by her very own sister, who revealed the truth behind the shot.
Casey Sosnowski shared this snap — that shows her with her arms out wide, holding a water bottle rocking figure-hugging activewear and a huge smile — along with the caption: “Nature is the ultimate healer to all our problems,” adding the hashtag: “#Naturelovers.”
She then tagged herself in at Lake Okahumpka Park and Trail in Florida.
Casey “hiking”:
Her sister Carly has clearly had enough of this nonsense, so she posted the following on Twitter:
Yep. That’s a professional-looking photographer taking what is clearly a staged photo.
That’s also definitely not Lake Okahumpka Park and Trail.
It gets more awkward. The tweet went viral.
Casey responded to her sister, saying she felt “personally attacked,” before updating her Instagram picture to coyly suggest that, yes, this was her backyard.
“Did I go hiking? No. Is this my backyard? … Maybe,” she wrote, along with a winking-eye emoji.
No Casey, you didn’t go hiking. Yes, that is your back yard.
Casey has 9 000 followers at the time of writing, with whom she regularly shares her life.
The moral of the story?
Don’t believe everything you see on the internet.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if these two siblings conspired, in order to draw attention to their respective social media accounts.
2019, hey.
