August 18 would have been Patrick Swayze’s 67th birthday, and we are also nearing a full decade since the actor passed away from pancreatic cancer.
The Dirty Dancing star, who also featured in classics like Ghost and Point Break, is now being celebrated in a new doccie, simply titled I Am Patrick Swayze.
Featuring appearances from friends and colleagues like Sam Elliott, Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, C. Thomas Howell, Kelly Lynch and director Roland Joffe, as well as Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, and brother Don Swayze, it’s sure to tug on the heartstrings.
Below from Variety:
“Patrick had something about him that was very rugged, but that also had that beautiful, gentle, sensuous ability to move,” says Moore, who starred in “Ghost” with Swayze.
“It’s raw courage of someone who knew they were going to die but wasn’t making an issue of it,” says Joffe, who directed Swayze in “City of Joy.”
The trailer hints at a darker side to the actor. Niemi says, “He’d be bubbly and fun, and as soon as he’s by himself and alone, he would just crash.”
“I have these demons that run around in my insides,” Swayze says in another clip.
Well, let’s see that trailer:
I Am Patrick Swayze will debut on the Paramount Network on August 18, and I’m sure fans can find it somewhere online shortly after that.
