It’s that time of year when people start clearing out the old and bringing in the new.
It’s also roughly the time of year when my friends’ kids start making their Christmas lists.
How are these things connected?
New incoming toys probably mean that you’re clearing out old toys.
The fact that there are toys to clear out at all sets your kids apart from the millions of orphans and vulnerable children in South Africa who have had very little opportunity to experience even the smallest of delights – a toy of their own, to play with.
In a bid to help change that, Cadbury Dairy Milk brought ‘The Little Generosity Shop’ to Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town to collect as many pre-loved toys, games and books as possible.
A mobile ‘Little Generosity Shop’ has also roamed the country to inspire the spirit of generosity other parts of South Africa.
While true generosity doesn’t ask for any reward, Cadbury Dairy Milk is thanking South Africa for showing that “there’s a glass and a half” in everyone by handing over a Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, in exchange for donations, at ‘The Little Generosity Shop’.
If you’re in Cape Town, you can still head on over to Canal Walk’s Food Court where the ‘The Little Generosity Shop’ is up and running until August 5.
That’s Canal Walk’s Food Court, every day from now until Monday
Here’s a little more motivation to brighten up your day:
When visiting ‘The Little Generosity Shop’, you and your children will have the opportunity to write a personalised message to a child who will receive your toy/s.
You’ll also be able to learn about the history of Cadbury Dairy Milk and pick up tips on how to spread your generosity even further with ‘Cadbury Chronicles’. The interactive wall will show how the journey of a single donated toy inspires untold happiness, and also tracks the number of toys collected as part of the campaign.
We can all remember that one toy that we took everywhere and loved to death, and every kid deserves that memory.
Visit www.cadburyglassandahalf.co.za for more on how you can make that happen.
