In 2015, when the prospect of a Donald Trump presidency was still a laughable improbability (how naive we were), a video resurfaced from his past.
In the video Trump, kitted out in a yellow suit, dances to a reworded version of the Pointer Sisters’ Jump, surrounded by actors, including Kenan Thompson and Amy Poehler, in chicken costumes.
It’s a thing of beauty.
Made in 2004 by Saturday Night Live, the fake commercial is a spoof of Trump’s love of selling anything with his name on it.
At that stage, he was at the height of his Apprentice fame, and even hosted the show.
When the video resurfaced in 2015, around about the time that Trump would host the show again, it was met with mixed reviews. Some loved it, some hated it.
Over the years, Trump has had a notoriously bad relationship with SNL, who have been inviting him on and making fun of him since the late 80s.
You can see some of their brilliant efforts to shame him here, here and here.
Over to PEOPLE with more on the clip::
“It’s great to be here at Saturday Night Live, but I’ll be completely honest, it’s even better for Saturday Night Live that I’m here,” Trump said in his opening monologue in the 2004 episode.
Trump has not appeared on the show since he hosted in 2015, early in his presidential campaign, when he appeared with his impersonators during his monologue and got yelled at for being a racist by Larry David.
In the four years since, however, he has grown increasingly sensitive to the show’s jokes, blasting it as “one sided coverage” and suggesting it should be investigated by the government.
The clip was reportedly listed on the package for an SNL DVD release but, mysteriously, wasn’t included in the final release. This has prompted people to question whether or not the Trump PR team is trying to censor the clip.
Conspiracy theories aside, watching this orange imbecile try to dance is worth its weight in chicken wings:

Glorious.
In an ironic turn of events, the clip, which has now gone viral on Twitter for a second time, was first shared by a Trump supporter.
You just can’t keep a good video down.
