See that angry-looking fellow above?
His name is Jonathan and he really wants you to get off his lawn.
He’s also not only the world’s oldest tortoise, but at 187 years of age, Guinness World Records has declared him the world’s oldest-known living animal on land.
He was born around 1832 and has lived through both World Wars, the completion of the Eiffel Tower, and the first powered flight, reports Business Insider.
So, he deserves a little respect.
On to some more of the groundbreaking records that made it onto Guinness’ list this year.
Here are 10 of our favourites:
1. Roughly 1 347 women wearing wedding dresses set the world record for being the largest group of people dressed as brides.
The event was organised by Sedka Novias, a bridal fashion store in Petrer, Spain.
Women aged 18 to 92 pitched up in their wedding dresses, probably just to have a reason to wear them again.
You can read more on that record here.
2. Sculptors built the world’s tallest sandcastle in Binz, Germany. It stands more than 17,6 meters above the ground, and it’s made of 10 886 kg of sand.
This incredible castle took a team of 12 sculptors and eight technicians from Russia, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Holland, and Latvia. The team spent three and a half weeks building the structure, which is made of approximately 11 metric tons of sand.
3. Two New York City museums created the world’s longest feather boa in honour of WorldPride.
In honour of Pride Month, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! and Madame Tussauds Attractions teamed up to create “Boa Boulevard,” a 2km long feather boa that stretched between 7th and 8th Avenue on 42nd Street in New York City.
Yas Kween!
4. A 116-year-old woman, Kane Tanaka, became the world’s oldest living person.

5. A display of 36 440 LEGO “Star Wars” Minifigures broke a world record.
Why? No reason.
LEGO Group just decided that 36 440 Stormtrooper figurines would make a decent attempt at a world record.
It took 12 people 38 hours to set them up.
6. A Canadian artist created the world’s largest supported sculpture made from drinking straws.
Canadian artist Von Wong collected straws from clean-up groups around Vietnam. The art installation in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was created to raise awareness about the dangers of single-use plastics.
7. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hold the record for the fastest time to gain a million followers on Instagram.
The @SussexRoyal Instagram account – started by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex – reached one million followers within a record-breaking five hours and 45 minutes of its creation on April 2.
8. An Australian man solved a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded in 16,22 seconds.
Jack Cai of Australia set a record for the fastest time to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded with a time of 16,22 seconds on April 6.
He broke the old record by 0,33 seconds.
9. An Australian chef, Johnny Di Francesco, made a pizza with 154 types of cheese, snagging a world record for the pizza with the most varieties of cheese.
Yes, please.
Not a pineapple in sight, either.

Organisations in Xonacatlán, Mexico, honoured the country’s national children’s day by constructing the world’s largest teddy bear.

Naturally, that damned Instagram egg also made an appearance. It earned the record for ‘most likes’ on Instagram – more than 30,5 million.
