I know Tuesdays aren’t the ideal day for a few tears at your desk, but here we are.
South Africa lost one of its great sons last week, and I don’t really think we need to say much more about a life incredibly well-lived.
This coming Friday, a public memorial will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 12:30PM. Admission is free, but those wanting to reserve a seat must collect their tickets from any Computicket outlet.
There will also be an unreserved standing area.
On Sunday, amongst the stories of political espionage and corruption, Carte Blanche paid a fitting tribute to the storied musician.
Best known for some of his iconic hits such as ‘Impi’ and ‘Asimbonanga’ – a song paying homage to Nelson Mandela and other struggle stalwarts of his time – the man fondly known as the ‘White Zulu’ succumbed to pancreatic cancer earlier this week. As South Africa mourns the passing of yet another musical giant, we remember a man who embraced, comforted and fought for his compatriots, during a time in this country when it was dangerous to do so.
