Cape Town is on its way to being declared the most dangerous city in the world, and in Durban, they chain their cars to street lamps to prevent theft.
So yeah, we’re dealing with some pretty intense criminals these days.
In recent news, disturbing CCTV footage captured a man getting attacked outside a shopping complex on Brighton Road in Bluff, Durban.
The man fought off the attackers, who tried to force him into the vehicle that they were carjacking, reports IOL.
You can see it unfold in just 38 seconds here:
Andy Rossell, who serves on the Bluff Community Policing Forum, said the car was later involved in a collision in Isipingo, but unfortunately, the hijackers escaped.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the vehicle was recovered on the same day in Isipingo.
A case of carjacking has been opened at Brighton Beach police station and is under investigation.
I’m not so sure that fighting back is always the best option, because insurance is your friend and a car isn’t worth your life, but in this case the man did very well.
