It’s almost time for the annual Bokeh SA International Lifestyle & Fashion Film Festival, where talented filmmakers and fashion designers will walk the red carpet and take home coveted awards and prizes.
With more than 500 submissions from 46 countries, entries have been whittled down to the 129 Official Selections that will be shown over the course of a week at various screenings.
The festival will take place from July 9 to July 14 at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, with the main Gala Awards taking place on Saturday, July 13.
The festival in Cape Town includes multiple free screenings, captivating industry presentations, master classes and competitions by the featured sponsors, designers and filmmakers from 9AM to 9PM each day.
To give you a taste of what’s in store, the line-up includes panel discussions on social media and vlogging and ethical fashion, DJI drone flying demonstrations, and a special effects master class by acclaimed SFX artist Chad Waller.
Do you want more? Alright, how about a sound editing master class by international DJ Dino Moran, the Einat Dan International Creative Makeup and Body Art Competition, and so much more.
Something that’s also really exciting is the partner brand’s submission category films, which focus on creative ways to combine film, fashion and top brands like Fitch & Leedes:
“Fitch & Leedes is a bespoke range of mixers with a core focus on innovation so when the opportunity to work with Bokeh came up we couldn’t resist the temptation to collaborate. We got straight to work in figuring out unique ways to weave our brand into the Bokeh events.
The highlight of the collaboration has been the commissioning of a Fitch & Leedes Fashion Film through the Bokeh network of creators culminating in a R75 000 cash prize for the winning film,” says Dylan Teubes, Fitch & Leedes Digital Content Specialist.
R75 000 for the winning film is not at all bad. Given that Fitch & Leedes has such a rich, storied history, there’s plenty to work with.
Not to get carried away, but when Ralph Fitch and William Leedes set sail on the Tyger in 1583 in search of new tastes in India and the East, they did us all a favour.
With cash prizes like that above, as well as international recognition, on the table, this year’s event promises to showcase only the best of the best from around the globe.
Here’s a glimpse of last year’s winners to give you a small taste of what’s in store:
In other words, if you work in the creative industry, have a passion for design, fashion and film, then you really don’t want to miss out.
