Depending on who you ask, Boris Johnson is either refreshingly honest or a complete moron.
I fall into the latter category, and my tolerance for politicians with terrible hair and a habit of putting their feet in their mouths has never been lower.
In the case of potential British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, he hasn’t had a great few weeks. He was derided for the state of his car (a little petty), came under fire when police were called to his apartment following a ‘domestic row’ (justified), and fell apart when trying to answer a basic question about his hobbies (marvellous to watch).
On the back of all of that, you would say he actually handled this latest awkward situation rather well. Whilst speaking at the Conservative Party’s leadership hustings at Carlisle Racecourse, and as he was touching on climate change, a chopper landed in the middle of the racetrack.
Realising that there was a chance it might be his, Boris quickly made light of the situation:
It would be funnier if he wasn’t a cretin.
As it turned out, the Express reports that the helicopter actually belonged to rival Jeremy Hunt, which led to this reaction:
Mr Johnson reacted: “That’s a relief. It looks a bit like mine. In fact we should be sharing one.
“We’re going to the same venue. It’s a national scandal that we’re not.”
Sorry, BJ, you’ve got bigger scandals to deal with.
