The World’s 50 Best awards happened recently in Singapore, where chefs from around the globe were commended for their work.
Mirazur, a restaurant on the French Riviera in Menton, took the number one spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
The Robb Report noted that one of the changes in this year’s Best 50 competition that made it possible for Mirazur to win was that past winners are now no longer eligible to be ranked, and are relegated to a kind of emeritus “Best of the Best” position.
Cape Town favourite The Test Kitchen snapped up the award for the best restaurant in Africa. Standard, really.
It also ranked 44th overall.

Chef Kobus van ver Merwe is super stoked with life, of course, and the same can be said for Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen.
Just a reminder that we’re killing it on the world culinary stage.
