Imagine being the kind of man that dismisses yet another rape allegation by saying ‘nah, she’s not my type’.

Now imagine that man being president of the United States of America.

Over the weekend, writer E. Jean Carroll alleged that Donald Trump raped her in New York luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman’s dressing room 23 years ago.

You can read her account of the rape here, but let’s move on to Trevor Noah’s take on Trump’s 22nd sexual assault allegations. It’s quite telling that, in offering a denial, Trump’s number one issue is ‘she’s not my type’, and his number two issue is ‘it never happened’.

He said the same thing after journalist Natasha Stoynoff accused him of attacking her – “Take a look. You take a look. Look at her. Look at her words. You tell me what you think.”

Then there was his response to Jessica Leeds, who accused him of groping her on a plane in the 1980s. Wait for it – “Believe me, she would not be my first choice, that I can tell you. You don’t know. That would not be my first choice.”

The laundry list of crimes Trump is accused of grows daily (let’s add those detention centre conditions into the mix), but it’s sometimes easy to forget past accusations.
