Everyone knows that one father that takes his kid’s school sports matches a little seriously.
He’s the one who constantly berates the referee, and insists that little Johnny is the greatest athlete to grace this earth since Michael Jordan.
This kind of parent, for an example close to home.
Well, over in the US, they also exist, and sometimes parents get so worked up they end up engaging in mass brawls. This peach comes from Lakewood, Colorado, where a youth baseball match involving seven-year-olds (yes, seven) turned violent.
Reporting from CBS News:
Colorado authorities say they are investigating a fist fight between adults over a teenage umpire’s calls during a youth baseball game…
Video shot by spectators shows men exchanging punches on the field. Lakewood police spokesman John Romero said police want help identifying a man shown punching the side of another man’s head, knocking him to the ground.
The kids are seven, and the umpire who made the contested call is 13.
Romero said four people involved have been cited for disorderly conduct. Several adults were injured but none required treatment at a hospital.
“This went beyond a simple shoving match. Fists were flying. As you can see, there’s fights all over the field. There’s several fights going on at the same time between men and women. Several people were injured. We had at least one person with serious bodily injuries. It’s disgusting,” Romero said.
Correct.
The number of men cited has now reached five, and they’re aged 24, 26, 29, 46 and 55.
Here’s the full, unedited video of the fight:
