We live in a beautiful city, and I never tire of hearing friends who have visited from overseas singing our praises.
Yeah, we know we got it going on.
Cape Town Tourism sure has plenty to work with when it comes to promoting the city, and they’ve just launched a national campaign highlighting why visiting in winter is well worth it.
Airfares between now and the end of October are usually far cheaper, and you won’t be fighting your way through thousands of visitors from Gauteng for a seat at our most popular beachside bars.
According to Good Things Guy, Cape Town Tourism is taking a slightly different approach with their new campaign:
To resonate with their domestic audience, they are taking a comedic approach, tackling the perceptions of Cape Town head-on in a self-effacing manner that is authentic and honest to create an endearing campaign that all South Africans can laugh at together…
Many Cape Town industry players have rallied together in support of the campaign, such as the Pepper Club where most of the video was shot. The video also includes a few fun cameos by the likes of Siv Ngesi, Luke Dale Roberts, Tali Babes, Ryan Sands [sic], and is directed by Ari Kruger, recent winner of multiple South African Film & Television Awards in the comedy category.
Let’s see what all the fuss is about:
Yeah, I kinda like it.
If you don’t want to wait in the queue at Willoughby’s in the Waterfront, call ahead and you can smash an early sunset and dinner at Café Caprice.
Yes, their famous two-for-one Tuesday night burger special is back, in case you’re looking for another excuse to venture out midweek.
As Capetonians, it’s always good to laugh at ourselves, although I should point out that when it rains like it did yesterday, the drivers are still pretty woes.
Jozi, over to you…
