Kevin Spacey was among those exposed when the #MeToo movement opened the floodgates on seemingly endless accusations of sexual assault levied against some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
You can read about some of his alleged predatorial behaviour here and here.
Spacey is currently on trial for indecent assault, after he reportedly groped a young man in a Nantucket bar in 2016, and he made an unusual appearance yesterday at a Massachusetts courthouse.
His attorney claims that Spacey is “suffering” as he awaits a chance to clear his name, reports TIME.
Here he is arriving at the courthouse:
Spacey sat with his lawyers but didn’t speak during the trial. His lawyer is determined to let everyone know how sad he is.
“He is suffering every day that this goes on,” said Jackson, who occasionally placed his hand on Spacey’s shoulder throughout the hearing at the Nantucket District Court. “That’s a day he is not getting justice.”
Meanwhile, prosecutors accused Spacey’s legal team of attempting to spin the case in its favor in the media by filing motions demanding information it already had or was going to get. Prosecutors said the defense was merely looking to give the press “something to gnaw on.”
It sounds like a fiasco.
The actor, who has pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault and battery, faces up to two-and-a-half years behind bars if convicted.
