Radical Video Shows Chef Removing Plastic From Inside A Fish

Chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita was horrified by the combs, bottle tops, and other plastics that he recently found inside a fish.

In June last year, a whale was found beached in Thailand with 80 pieces of plastic rubbish weighing about 8 kilograms in its stomach.

This is the type of thing that environmental activists like the Extinction Rebellion have been warning us about. The seas are so full of waste and plastic now that it’s killing marine life at an alarming rate.

The problem is especially evident in a recent video shared by Chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita. Despite two decades of research into food, and more than three decades working as a pro-chef, “nothing could’ve prepared him for what he recently found inside a fish”, reports VICE.

Check it out:

Chef Zurita shared the post with the plea to limit plastic use and refrain from littering in the ocean.

The minute-long video is absolutely horrifying to watch, but maybe that’s exactly what we need, if our collective behaviors—including our continued reliance on plastic packaging—are ever going to change. According to some estimates, the equivalent of an entire garbage truck’s worth of plastic is dumped into the oceans every single minute of every day. (Five years ago, nonprofit advocacy group 5 Gyres calculated that there were 5.25 trillion-with-a-T pieces of plastic in our oceans.)

And on our mountains, and in our rivers and…

Let’s just be better.
