Give a South African four wheels, send them out into traffic, and at some point, you get road rage.
The number of road rage attacks over the last couple of weeks is bordering on the ridiculous.
First, there was that horrible incident with the security guard in Stellenbosch. Then, a quad biker attacked a 67-year-old man in Port Elizabeth.
Now, reports TimesLIVE, a video shared on social media shows the driver of a white double-cab bakkie holding a man while landing about seven upper-cut punches.
Here it is – another great example of how far we’ve come as a species:
The bakkie-driving man (why is it always a bakkie?) is now facing criminal charges.
Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown).
Govender said details were still “very unclear”.
“The owner of the Tazz opened a case on Monday. At first it was a case of assault to cause grievously bodily harm, but it has been changed to common assault.”
So far no arrests have been made.
I know traffic is the worst, and other drivers can be difficult, but we need to find a better way to process our feelings.
Enough now. It’s not a good look.
