You’ll find many a fine moustache on display along the likes of Bree Street and Kloof Street, and the winter months are the perfect time to let the top lip run a little wild.

If you want to play with the big dogs, though, like those at the 2019 World Beard and Moustache Championship, there is much ground to be made.

The artistry on display is quite something – just look at that chap above and his steely, resolute glare. How he manages to keep a straight face with that furry accompaniment we will never know, but we salute his efforts.

The Washinton Post is running a photo tribute to the 2019 event, so let’s look at some of their featured shots:

They’re going to need to check the hard drives of that guy on the right. I don’t trust him.

That’s all fun and games until you have to stand next to the guy at Hank’s when the bar is rammed.
