Hotel workers have usually seen some things if they’ve been in the industry long enough.
One Southern German worker, however, got more than he bargained for when he opened the door of a three-bedroom suite at a Bavarian hotel to find a grisly crime scene.
Here’s the weird part – the three bodies that he found were pierced with crossbow bolts.
According to The Washington Post, police are “vexed” by the murders.
The body of the 30-year-old woman was found on the floor of the hotel room, police said, and a 53-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were lying together on the bed. All three were German citizens.
The man and the woman were holding hands, the Associated Press reported. An unused crossbow was found in a bag inside the room, police said Monday. Two other crossbows were found Saturday.
Police initially thought that these bodies were the only ones connected to the case, until they found two more bodies 650 kilometres away in a flat in Wittingen, that had been occupied by the 30-year-old woman found dead in the hotel room, reports BBC.
The couple found in bed were a man aged 53 and a woman aged 33, both from the western state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Public prosecutor Walter Feiler told a news conference that the man had been shot twice in the head and three times in the chest, while the woman lying next to him had one wound in the head and another in the chest.
The third victim, the 30-year-old woman, “was lying in front of the double bed and had one shot from a crossbow between the throat and the chin”, he added.
The German daily Merkur said that the 30-year-old woman was reportedly the sister of one of the women found in Wittingen. Merkur identified her only as “C” and said she had registered as an occupant of the flat in March.
The bodies were found after the neighbours noticed a strange smell coming from the flat.
Neighbours also described the woman who owned the flat as “a bit odd”, saying she dressed in a “gothic style”.
Everything about this is a bit odd.
The investigation is ongoing.
