Sheesh, but your little pug is beautiful!
Woah, look at that gorgeous French bulldog!
OK, so now for the really bad news.
Your dearest pet is actually a freak of nature, and is struggling with a number of health issues that can make its life a constant struggle.
In a recent story titled ‘Pedigree Dogs’, Carte Blanche decided to do a little digging:
They’re cute, from a distinguished bloodline and they fetch a hefty price tag. But with selective breeding for specific and special traits, are pedigreed puppies really healthy?
Carte Blanche investigates a breeding industry that has created dogs with chronic illnesses and health problems passed on from litter to litter – costing you thousands in vet bills
But hey, as long as you’re happy with your designer dog.
Look, use it or don’t use it, and there are plenty of breeders that do things by the book and in a humane way, but understand that in some cases you’re supporting a brutal, and ultimately immoral, breeding practice.
At least do your homework, and remember that you will find the most loving pets at places like DARG or the SPCA.
