God, I Love John Oliver – Watch Him Rant About Japanese Mascots [Video]

I like John Oliver quite a bit, but I wouldn’t go as far as love.
Seth’s clearly a fan, especially of Oliver’s mascot-based rants, which brings us to the curious case of Chiitan.
Last Week Tonight isn’t afraid of tackling the big issues (that Robert Mueller piece, for example), but sometimes you have to veer wildly off course and look at the strange world of Japanese mascots.
Chiitan has become something of a rabble-rouser, stirring up trouble in Japan and piquing the interest of the British host.
I don’t really think we need to say much more before we hand over to John:
I’ll reserve comment and hope he redeems himself next week.
