In case you didn’t know, the Brits are really, really into their cocaine right now.
Some drug dealers are even labelling their products as ‘vegan’ or ‘ethically sourced’, and recent stats provided by the UK’s National Crime Agency revealed some of the stranger places that cocaine has been found.

Anyway, let’s talk shrimp. Rural shrimp, to be more precise, because everyone knows that urban shrimp are in dire need of an intervention.
Below from the Guardian, who used the pun ‘prawn to be wild’:
Researchers have found cocaine in all samples of shrimp tested in a rural area of eastern England, with ketamine also widespread.
Scientists from King’s College London, in collaboration with the University of Suffolk, made the “surprise” discovery after taking samples from 15 locations across the mostly rural county of Suffolk…
“Cocaine was found in all samples tested, and other illicit drugs such as ketamine, pesticides and pharmaceuticals were also widespread in the shrimp that were collected,” said the study.
One of [lead author Thomas] Miller’s colleagues, Leon Barron, called the regular occurrence of illicit drugs in wildlife as a result of “surprising”.
“We might expect to see these in urban areas such as London, but not in smaller and more rural catchments,” he added.
Spare a thought for those shrimp, living off bespoke, artisanal scraps after moving to the country to avoid the temptations of big city living, who are now being plied with drugs.
Ketamine, nogal.
It’s a hard knock life.
